Summer wouldn’t be complete without tapping into your Irish roots (or lack thereof) at the annual Milwaukee Irish Festival. Whether you want to watch some of the best dancers in the business or just enjoy traditional cuisine, the festival has it all. Here is our guide to everything Irish this weekend –
- Family fun: Leprechaun Village and the children’s area are the go-to areas for all things kids. Whether they want to search for gold, play mini golf, or create their own leprechaun – they definitely won’t be bored. Don’t miss the children’s freckle contest Saturday at 2 p.m.
- Sports: Catch a historical match of Gaelic Football or an epic battle of tug-of-war! The weekend does not lack sports action.
- Food: Come hungry – there are over 45 food locations throughout the fest! For traditional Irish food try corned beef and cabbage from Paddy’s Café and don’t forget to stop by Gilles Jameson Frozen Custard.
- Music: The absolute BEST part of the festival. With acts from over six Celtic nations, there will be non-stop music all weekend. You do not want to miss the Red Hot Chilli Pipers – Saturday at 8 p.m.
Check out a complete schedule of activities at www.irishfest.com.
Don’t worry about the long drive, it’s only 5 minutes from The Buckler – have fun!
Speaking of convenience, did you know that plans for a streetcar to navigate the bustling downtown Milwaukee are still underway? While it is projected to be completed in phases, we are looking forward to the 4th street extension that can navigate you to nearby Marquette!
If the laughing-until-you-cry emoji is your favorite, then you’re in luck! Check out Milwaukee Comedy Festival August 4-7 – an entire weekend devoted to making the amazing city of Milwaukee laugh!
